Dear President Obama:
We, the democracy loving people, beg you to stop supporting the authoritarian of Thail military regime led by Gen. Prayuth Chan-Ocha.
Your foreign policy toward Thailand is not refreshing! It is old and outdated. This is the same policy from the days of the Vietnam War era and the fear of Communist expansion!
Your blind support of the Thai monarchy and the Royal Arms Forces must cease. You can not go on the business as usual such as inviting the military and police officials to the USA for training in the hope of maintaining the so-called "good relations" or giving token military aids or joint exercises. These are wastes of money from hard-working Americans! Time and again, it is under the direction of Military Dictator. You must deal with the top of the problem!
As you have witnessed the events unfolding during the past months, the ruling establishments have crushed the democratically elected government and pro-democracy activities of Red Shirts. The ultimate blow was the palace engineered coup d' etat, so they can establish the government of their own liking.
Most of the populations in Thailand are craving for democracy like yours and the UK and the EU. As noted on this FB, all we need is for our brothers and sisters back in Thailand to live in peace and in pursuit for happiness with real democracy--society where people are not afraid of the draconian lese majeste law and the freedom to speak their mind.
Currently, the Thai military juntas are hunting down Red Shirt people and democracy activists around the country while misleading the world by saying that they declared martial law and staged the coup in order to "save the country!" This is all a lie! Many innocent people have been thrown in jail after they were forced to report to the junta. Now the military impose strict rules for people to follow. All the news, which is considered a threat to the monarchy, is heavily censored. People now live in fear and cannot speak their mind!
Please learn from your past mistakes. Remember the dictators such as the Shah of Iran or Gen. Augusto Pinochet of Chile with whom the USA blindly supported. In the end, USA paid a dear price! You must not make another mistake by supporting yet again the monarchy of Thailand or the core military leaders. We realize they are good military men, but they are afraid of their draconian lese majeste law.
The latest news is that the monarchy, and the military are now turning their back on you and are now heading toward China for support! Thai monarchy is not to be trusted.
Please do not support the wrong side again or in the end the same history may repeat itself again such as that of Iran.
Thailand's Red Shirt people or democracy activists are not communists or terrorists as alleged by the military or the royalists. They love the freedom and democracy just like us who are British and Americans or citizens of the civilized world.
Democracy loving people such as Red Shirts compose of at least some 40 million people across Thailand while the royalists and/or the elites are consisted of a handful or no more than half a million people! Unfortunately, the majorities are peaceful people with no guns and peaceful in nature, while the minority military and royalists posses massive amount of ammunitions and guns.
We urge you to impose economic sanctions on Thailand and freeze the assets of the military juntas, the police thugs and the loots stolen by the Monarchy worth some $45 Billion Dollars or anyone involved in the ordering and carrying out the recent coup d' etat. Such ill-gotten wealth must be returned to the rightful owners, the people of Thailand!
Your immediate attention and appropriate action in this matter is highly appreciated.
